Base camp and beyond for poorly children
On 16th March 2012, the lewis group's Mike Elcock will begin trekking the high passes of Everest, aiming to raise £1000 or more for Rainbows Children’s Hospice in Loughborough. Rainbows was wonderfully helpful to a little boy called Alex Camwell who lived just 7 months and 1 day.
Mike’s trekking circuit takes in Everest Base Camp, Awi, Nangkartshang, Chhukung Ri, Gokyo Ri, Kala Pattar and crosses Everest’s three high passes (Renzo La, Cho La and Kongma La).
The average altitude is 5400 metres or 17550 feet - well past the level at which most of us would need oxygen!
Mike and his trekking partner Viv have funded the trip themselves, but would greatly appreciate a contribution to Rainbows Children's Hospice. You can make a donation online here.
