Ashleigh’s ascent
Ashleigh Craig is an instructor in the Territorial Army, as well as being one of our Collections Support staff.
In July 2012, she and 20 youngsters in her charge will fly to India and then drive to Nepal before beginning a 3-week trek to Kathmandu.
On the way, they’ll visit schools to deliver much needed basic things like pens and rubbers, and when they reach Mount Kalaphattar, they’ll climb it – all 18,200 feet of it, being rewarded with unforgettable views of nearby mount Everest.
In preparation for the trip, Ashleigh runs monthly training weekends in which she and her team cover 40km.
Ashleigh’s colleagues at the lewis group are enthusiastic supporters, helping with the car boot sales, raffles and collections that she has run to raise funds for her epic trip.
