Shoeboxes for soldiers

Jemma and Sue keep soldiers sweet
Chocolate, deodorant, toothpaste – we take them for granted at home, but they’re hard to come by for our soldiers in Afghanistan.
That’s why Jemma Ward and Sue Whitfield were cajoling everyone at the lewis group last year to buy extra Colgate, Sure or Cadbury’s when shopping, so that they could make up shoe-boxes full of such essentials and ship them off to Helmand Province.
To boost funds and beef up the box count, Jemma and Sue also held a raffle (funds matched £ for £ by the company) and, by the 3rd December 2011 deadline, had packed and posted no fewer than 37 boxes!
