At the same time, we’re last in the league for complaints. Our upheld complaints rate is less than 0.002%, in 1.5 million live accounts.
It takes long experience, new technology and a certain kind of culture to beat the industry in both those apparently conflicting measures.
It also helps to have an unfair advantage, and this is ours:
Two years ago we threw out our business model. As the debt purchase market had grown we had focussed our attention in this area – collecting outstanding sums that we had bought outright. Then we changed, virtually overnight, to contingent debt collection, a way of working that has quite different demands, customers, processes and problems.
We coped, as you can tell from our position in the tables. And our revolution had other positive outcomes.
We know how to manage change – we’re a 4-decade business that’s as light on its feet as a startup. We’re unashamedly ambitious – we aim to be Britain’s best collections business and now we know we can do it. And we live or die by performance – our clients want better and better results so that’s what we demand from each other.
Last year, 100% of our existing clients renewed their contracts and we started working with scores of new names.
